Scrap metal collection
Scrap metal collection is picking up unwanted metal items, from radiators and boilers to copper pipe and old bikes, and taking them for recycling. Jansco collects scrap metal across Sandwell and the Black Country, often free for metal-only loads, as a registered scrap metal collector licensed by Sandwell Council.

What’s included
Metal is one of the easiest materials to recycle, and it keeps its value. That’s why we can often collect pure metal loads for free: the metal goes to a licensed scrap yard and is recycled rather than landfilled. Mixed loads, where metal comes with other rubbish, are priced by load size like any other collection.
We take washing machines, dryers, dishwashers and cookers, radiators, boilers and hot water cylinders, copper, brass and lead, steel and aluminium, cabling, bikes, metal garden furniture, BBQs, shelving, filing cabinets, gates and fencing, and car parts drained of all fluids.
We hold a scrap metal collector’s licence from Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council, as the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 requires. The same law means we cannot pay cash for scrap. Where a load is valuable enough for us to pay anything, payment is by bank transfer or cheque only, and we have to see photo ID and record your name and address.
We can’t take gas bottles, fire extinguishers, anything still containing oil, fuel or other fluids, or anything lagged with asbestos. Fridges and freezers need degassing before recycling, so they are not free: ask us and we’ll quote.

Questions about scrap metal collection
Is scrap metal collection free?
Often, yes. Loads that are metal only are usually collected free because the metal is recycled. Mixed loads with other rubbish are priced by load size, from £60.
Do you pay for scrap metal?
Sometimes, for larger loads of valuable metal such as copper or brass. By law we can’t pay cash: any payment is by bank transfer or cheque, and we must see photo ID.
What metal can’t you take?
We can’t take gas bottles, fire extinguishers, anything containing oil, fuel or other fluids, or items with asbestos. Fridges and freezers need degassing, so they are priced separately: ask us for a quote.
