Terms & conditions
The terms for our waste collection and clearance services. Last updated 3 October 2026.
1. About us
These terms apply to services provided by Janet Larway-Carter, trading as Jansco Recycling & Waste. Registered address available on request by email to info@jansco.co.uk. We are a registered waste carrier, registration number CBDU646050.
2. Quotes and prices
- Prices on our website are “from” prices and online estimates are a guide only.
- We confirm a fixed price before any loading begins, based on the volume and type of waste we see. If there is more waste, or different waste, than you described, we will re-quote before loading. You are free to decline.
- If there is less waste than quoted, we charge less.
- Prices include labour, loading, travel and licensed disposal. Some items carry an extra charge (see our price guide); these are always included in the fixed price we give you.
3. Bookings
A request made online is not a booking. We reply by email with the slots we can offer and a fixed price, and the collection is only booked once you confirm. The collection window we agree is an arrival window, confirmed the evening before; we will let you know if we are delayed.
4. Access and parking
- Please make sure we have safe access to the waste and somewhere legal to park within a reasonable distance.
- Tell us in advance about stairs without a lift, long carries, restricted parking or anything that could affect the job.
- If we cannot access the waste at the agreed time, or cannot park legally, we may charge for the wasted visit (see cancellations).
- Any parking charges or permits needed at your property are your responsibility unless we agree otherwise.
5. Cancellations
- You can cancel or rearrange free of charge with at least 24 hours’ notice.
- With less than 24 hours’ notice, or if we arrive and cannot carry out the job for reasons within your control, we may charge up to £40 to cover our costs.
- Consumers have a 14-day right to cancel a contract made online or at a distance under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. By asking us to collect within those 14 days you agree that the service can start straight away, and that once the collection is complete the right to cancel no longer applies.
6. Items we cannot take
For safety and legal reasons we cannot collect:
- Asbestos (including asbestos sheeting and lagging)
- Gas bottles, gas cylinders and fire extinguishers
- Liquid paint, oils, fuels, solvents and chemicals
- Clinical, medical or sanitary waste, and needles
- Batteries from vehicles, and car or motorbike engines containing fluids
- Explosives, fireworks, flares and ammunition
- Food waste in quantity, animal waste and dead animals
- Any waste classed as hazardous that has not been declared and agreed in advance
Plasterboard, fridges and freezers, mattresses, tyres, electricals and upholstered furniture can be collected but must be declared, as they need separate handling. If we find prohibited items we will leave them on site. If prohibited waste is hidden in a load, you are responsible for the cost of its safe disposal.
7. Your responsibilities
- You confirm that you own the waste or have the owner’s permission to dispose of it.
- Please remove anything you want to keep. Items left in the agreed area are treated as waste and cannot be recovered once loaded.
- Please remove or wipe personal data from computers, tablets, mobiles and other devices before collection.
8. Waste transfer notes and duty of care
Under section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, anyone who produces or holds waste has a duty of care to transfer it only to an authorised person. We are authorised, and we give you a waste transfer note for each collection describing the waste, its quantity and where it came from. Businesses must keep waste transfer notes for at least two years. Householders do not have to keep them, but we recommend you do.
We take all waste to licensed facilities and aim to reuse or recycle over 90% of what we collect.
9. Payment
Payment is due when the job is complete, by card, bank transfer or cash. Business customers may be invoiced with payment due within 14 days, if agreed in advance.
10. Liability
- We take care on your property. Please point out anything fragile before we start.
- We are not responsible for existing damage, or for damage caused because an item could not be removed without it (for example, where furniture was built in place) if we have told you in advance.
- Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
11. Complaints
If something isn’t right, please email info@jansco.co.uk or use our contact form and we’ll do our best to resolve it quickly.
12. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
